The Ruth Mini Mobile Library participated at the City of San Antonio World Heritage Event 2020 Dia de Los Muertos Ofrenda at the Mission Marquee Plaza this year. Due to COVID-19, the yearly tradition at San Jose Mission in the Granary was cancelled. We missed talking to the tourists and their love for all the family histories, photos and artifacts being displayed. The best part is finding more cousins! Hopefully, we’ll be able to see everyone in person in 2021.
We decided to wait to show our memorial video of our ancestors because we didn’t want them to get lost with everything going on with the election. Now that things have settled down, we thought it would be better to have them join us for Thanksgiving.
We are thankful for their love, their hard work, and everything our ancestors have done for us. When you read all the struggles they went through, believe me we have it easy compared to our ancestors.
When you hear family stories, you hear a little bit of your ancestors in every cousin you meet. As we were putting this video together, all kinds of memories would come to mind. In the comments, share your favorite memory of any ancestor (put the name of your ancestor so we know who you’re talking about).
I apologize if we missed anyone, you can start sending us your favorite photo of your deceased family member to library@ruthmini.com
If any young people are doing anything cool with technology to preserve family history, we’d love to hear about it.
This video (different than the mission marquee) is for San Jose Mission Descendants, but next year our video will be open to everyone who would like to honor their ancestor.
If you have any questions feel free to contact us at library@ruthmini.com or call us at 830-542-8463
Thank you for your time and effort in doing this. It is beautifully captured and I’m so thankful for you helping to preserve and tell our family story, without it we might not know who we truly are. Without seeing photos I fear I will forget and so don’t ever want to do that
